A look at the games I’ve been playing on my Android phone in 2011.

2011 was the year that I discovered that smartphone games could be addictive and heaps of fun to play. I had always disregarded them as “not-games” in some kind of elitist arrogance, plus developers at the time were treating the Android platform like a leper. Things have changed, and many of the exciting apps once pegged for iPhone have been released onto Gingerbread-Icecream, 2011 was the year of the app for myself, and I discovered they were the perfect treatment for long distance boredom and ideal for conversations that I had lost interest in (U.T.C.T -Under Table Covert Tactics). The following is a break down of my Top 5 most played Android games of 2011; (Not Necessarily released in 2011)
5. Fruit Ninja
The best smart-games to play are the simpler ones. And a game doesn’t get any simpler than Fruit Ninja. The object of the game is to slice up as much fruit as you possible can. That’s it. At first glance this seems like a pretty crap time waster, but in all honestly it’s one of the most addictive games I’ve played, and is challenging in it’s own way. Slicing multiple fruits with a single wipe on the screen gets you killer combos to bump your score, and there’s always bombs to watch out which cause an instant game over. The control’s are very intuitive, simply wipe your finger over the screen multiple times to cut up as much fruit as possible. This is one of those instant classic time waster’s that’ll keep you busy during work or whilst having a conversation with someone you dislike. Also available for Kinect, but to be honest I wouldn’t waste your time and pay any more than the 79p it costs in the Android Marketplace (and iStore).
